art and science

Successful behavior change takes both art and science.  I've practiced the art of teaching and training for over 20 years and learned both technical skills for training and relationship skills to promote partnerships based in respect and communication.  I back this experience up every day by keeping up to date on the latest high-quality science in behavior modification, the human-animal relationship, and best practices for supporting behavioral wellness in our companion animals.
If I can't back up my practice with current research, I'll change the practice-- can your trainer say the same?

Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

Dogs and other pets are NOT considered at risk for contracting or transmitting the COVID-19 virus (so don't worry about teaching your pupper to wear a mask!)

don't take our word for it!

The CDC still recommends handwashing and staying home when sick as some of the strongest preventative measures against COVID-19.
Consider keeping a 2-week supply of food, medication, and other household essentials for yourself and your dog in case social-distancing measures become necessary in your area.

caring for our larger community

Our communities aren't just made up of people and pets- we share our environment with millions of species, and working conservation detection dogs can be a big part of caring for those that are at risk due to human activity and environmental change.

Personal Space

All of us have times when we're not up for chatting, but for many dogs, visiting with new people or dogs in public isn't on the menu (sometimes or all the time)!

Dogs, even in public, are not public property- assume they're not available for touch, talk, or eye contact unless explicitly invited by the handler.  Remember that it's always ok to advocate for your dog if someone wants to or tries to pet her, too!
